This winter, the expansion of our Mechanics Årjäng factory will be completed – an important step in meeting increased demand, improving the working environment, and strengthening our competitiveness. We spoke with factory manager Ola Svensson to learn more about what the expansion entails, how the work is progressing, and what employees can expect going forward.
More space for growth and order
“We have been extremely cramped, which has made it difficult to create order and tidiness,” says Ola. The expansion is an important step in enabling us to expand, including with five-axis grinding and two new production lines.
The need for more space has been clear, especially in the tool department and milling. The new space will enable us to grow in the future and create better production flows.
Construction according to plan – and employees positive
The construction project has gone according to plan, and although it has meant some temporary changes, such as redirected exits and closed parking spaces, it has been positively received by employees.
“It feels great now that we’ve broken ground,” says Ola. The last time we expanded was in 2010, when we added 1,000 square meters.
A world-class factory
Once the expansion is complete, several relocations will take place within the factory, enabling further expansion. The goal is a world-class factory, where the working environment is improved through more structure and better conditions for future work.
“We work a lot with temporary solutions today. With the expansion, we can create permanent flows, especially in five-axis grinding, and work more rhythmically,” explains Ola.
Inauguration in February
The new part of the factory will be completed before the end of the year, with final inspection in early January. The move will take place immediately afterwards, and the inauguration is planned for February.
“It feels fantastic that we’ve managed to pull off this deal. I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to continue our journey and growth,” concludes Ola.
